STATE

Wow! Wow! Wow! Whitney and I are so proud of what the girls were able to accomplish yesterday at Regionals. Every year our goal is to be competing on the last day of the season at State and in order for that to happen we have to compete well at Regionals and qualify. We certainly did that yesterday with our season high score of a 185.125 and the #2 coming out of the three Regional meets. We will find out Monday what our event order will be for State on Thursday. In the meantime, it will be a short, busy week. Please, stay rested, hydrated and feed...the last thing we want is a illness taking anyone out.

We are going to have "spirit week" at school this week to help draw attention to the girls for the state meet so please note the clothing schedule as well (competitors and non-comptitors please dress up)

Monday                   3:30-5:00

Gym Opens for Competitors   2:00pm
March In                                  3:50pm

Important Notes: Please know that non-competitors are invited and encouraged to spend the entire day with us on Thursday but need to be excused from school by their parents. If girls can't afford to miss the entire day it's completely understandable and they can come to the meet as soon as school is over.

Competitors will be excused from school for the entire day.

The girls will get together before breakfast (looking for volunteer home) to do their hair before carpooling to breakfast. I'm looking for one additional volunteer (Claudia V. is currently one volunteer) to help carpool the girls to breakfast and you are welcome to join us at breakfast as well. Please email me directly if you're interested and can help.

BHS will pay for the competitors breakfast; non-competitors need to bring money for breakfast.
From breakfast we will carpool across the way to Thornton HS. We are given entrance passes from CHSAA for our team but please have non-competitors bring some cash just in case something is not covered. In years past it's never been an issue but CHSAA doesn't guaranteed we will be given enough passes for everyone depending on the size of the team.

On Monday morning CHSAA will have the seeding meeting and send out our competition order; I'll let the girls and you know as soon as I do. The state meet format will be warm up 2 events, compete 2 events.

Adult ticket prices are $18 for both Thursday (team competition) & Saturday (event finals)
Seniors/Students are $12 for both sessions

Adult single day ticket is $8
Seniors/Students single day ticket is $5

SATURDAY
Event Finals - if we have girls that finish in the top-15 on any event on Thursday they will compete in event finals on Saturday. (These results, along with the team results, will be announced Thursday night)

Open Warm Up       2:00pm
March In                 3:55pm
Competition            4:00pm
Awards (approx.)    6:30pm

STATE MEET FORMAT
Team and all around results are determined during Thursday's competition. The top-15 finishers on each event on Thursday then qualify for the event finals on Saturday afternoon. If we have qualifiers for Saturday we will be there as a team to support and cheer them on.

The gym on Thursday will be FULL so please plan on arriving early. We will do our best to save seats using the BHS banners. CHSAA doesn't love us saving seats so it's always best if some parents can arrive early to help save a parent's section. Don't forget to wear your blue and sit together!

We (coaches) will provide sandwiches for the girls at the meet but would like to ask for a volunteer that can pick them up for us. We are also asking the the competitors bring a snack to share with the team. It's an incredibly long day so having lots of food and water is critical. We've assigned the snacks below:

Coaches - Sandwiches (need a volunteer to PU)

Nicki -  Nutella
Madeline - Veggie Dip
Heidi - Crackers
Abbi E. - Meat Tray
Abby H. - Sliced Apples
Nicole - Cheese Slices
Maya - Carrots / Cucumbers
Sidney - Gold Fish
Natalie - Grapes
Halle - Drinks

I know this was a LOT of information so please don't hesitate to write me with any additional questions.

This is a fun and exciting week and we alway appreciate your help and support. Please try and keep the girls rested, hydrated, well fed and as stress free as possible!

Weekly Schedule - 10/17/16

Wow!! What a great day it was for the Eagles at the CC Invite! Our season high score and a 2nd place team finish. Thank you so much for getting your girls to the meet. I know it was a long day and far away but it really does make such a big difference to have our whole team there as a part of it.

I have to admit my favorite part of the day was our Secret Sister gift exchange. It's such a fun experience watching these girls as friends and the creativity in their gifts never ceases to amaze me.

This will be our last week together as a whole team (but don't worry, there will still be team events). Wednesday is our league championship meet and there will be both a JV and Varsity league champion crowned. It should be a fun and exciting meet.

Schedule
Monday               3:30-6:00pm
Tuesday               3:30-5:30pm
Wednesday          Front Range League Championships

We will only have to move gyms once during our competition but please be aware there will be some shuffling around.

Secret Sister Week
It's been a long tradition (15+ years) that we have secret sister week. On Thursday the girls drew names and are to bring three gifts this week. We don't want this to pose a burden on anyone so we encourage girls to be creative and use their imagination. The guidelines are as follows:
Monday- small gift #1 ($5 or less)    Tuesday - small gift #2 ($5 or less)    Saturday - big gift & reveal ($15 or less)

Sunday, October 2, 2016

Weekly Update - October 3-8

Wow!!! Whitney and I are so proud of the girls and our performance this past week at both the Mountain Range dual and the Broomfield Invitational. To watch these young ladies support each other, step up and perform at the level they did on the biggest stage thus far in the season is so exciting. We finished in 3rd place at the Invite (against the top-2 teams in the state-Overland and Pomona) but we earned our season high of a 180.55 and was only out of 1st place by .925!! Those are the numbers and statistics that we are going to focus on because we know that we have more in us and can make up that differential.

This week will be a fun and special week as it is our last home meet of the season and Senior Night! Please be sure we are taking care of ourselves, getting lots of rest and eating to keep our energy and stamina up.

Monday         Practice 3:30-6:00
Tuesday         Practice 3:30-5:30
                      Team Dinner (see below)
Wednesday    Home Meet vs. Ft. Collins / Ft. Morgan
Thursday       Practice 3:30-5:30

10/4 - Team Dinner
Girls will carpool to the dinner after practice and then will be picked up from there. Thank you to Maya Teaford and Ellie Guanella and families for hosting!
Maya Teaford's address is 705 E. Heartstrong Street, Superior

10/5 - Home Meet vs. Ft. Collins / Ft. Morgan
3:15-3:30pm         Arrive at gym
4:15pm                 Open Gym
5:50pm                 March In
6:00pm                 Competition Begins

We do have a small ceremony before awards to honor our seniors.

Secret Sister Week
Just a reminder that next week (October 10-15) is Secret Sister Week. It's been a long tradition (since I was in HS) that we do this fun event. We will draw names at the end of this week so the girls will have the weekend to shop. We never want this to be a burden on anyone so we encourage girls to be creative and use their imagination when it comes to gifts. The guidelines are as follows:
    Monday - small gift #1 ($5)
    Tuesday - small gift #2 ($5)
    Saturday - big gift & reveal ($15)

#D16 DEEP!

Sunday, September 25, 2016

Weekly Schedule - 9/26/16

Hard to believe it's the last week of September already. We've come a long way as a team but we still have a long way to go. This week is going to be a busy week with two meets, including our invitational that we host. Please be sure to stay on top of your studies, rest and nutrition. This is the time of year we start to worry about girls getting sick so please lets take care of ourselves!

Schedule:
Monday                Practice 3:30-6:00pm
Tuesday                Meet at Mountain Range HS
Wednesday           Practice 3:30-5:30pm
Thursday              Practice 3:30-5:30pm  *VARSITY ONLY*
Friday                  Mandatory Gym Set Up at Mountain Range HS-3:30-5:00pm

9/27  at Mountain Range HS (NO BUS)
12500 Huron Street
Please have girls arrive at Mountain Range by 4:00pm
Competition begins at 6pm
We are not providing snacks/sandwiches for this meet because it is so close and there is no bus ride. Please be sure your daughter eats lunch and packs a few snacks for themselves.

9/30   Gym Set Up at Mountain Range HS
In preparation for our invitational on Saturday we get together with the team from Mountain Range to move all of the equipment from the small gym to the large gym. This set up is mandatory. It's important that our team is there to help as we are renting their gym/equipment so the responsibility does not lie with Mountain Range. This set up usually takes an hour, but there have been times in the past it has taken less.

Please get to MRHS as soon as possible after school. BHS students I need your here by 3:30pm; all outlying students ASAP.

10/1 35th Annual Broomfield Invitational (yes 35 years :))
7:30am          Competitors Arrive
7:45am          Open Gym Warm Ups
8:15am          Timed Warm Ups Begin
8:30am           Non-Competitors Arrive
9:15am          March In
3:00pm          Awards (Estimated)

Please note there will be a gate fee at the meet ($5 adults, $4 students/seniors). Mountain Range will also be providing a concession stand. For those of you familiar with this meet it will be a little different this year as Mtn Range double booked their gym and will be having homecoming after our meet. That said, parking will be in the same lot on the east side of the school but entry will be through the south doors (by the tennis courts).

If your daughter has homecoming Saturday night our team policy is that she may leave at the conclusion on our team's last competitor. Please let Whitney or I know if you plan on leaving early and when you do leave.

Excited for a fun and busy week and continued improvement!

Sunday, September 11, 2016

Weekly Schedule - 9/12/16

We survived our first big invitational meet and I was really proud of this team. Whitney and I always talk about judging our night based on our performance because in such a subjective sport and human judges sometimes the actual scores don't reflect our performance. That was just the case Friday night. There were some really low scores but overall we thought our performance was the best of the season. Still a lot of room for growth and improvement and we are going to push the girls hard this week in our quest to get better but we are excited to get back in the gym to work!!

Weekly Schedule

Monday              3:30-6:00pm
Tuesday              3:30-5:30pm
   *Team Dinner (see details below)
Wednesday         Home Meet vs. Thornton
Thursday             Pictures

Team Dinner - Tuesday 6-7:30pm
We'll be having our first team dinner on Tuesday night after practice. The girls will need to carpool to Hannah's house and then arrange for pick up from there after dinner. Usually the girls are done eating between 7-7:30pm This is a casual fun evening just allowing the girls to spend time together before the first home meet.

Thank you to our host families Hannah Jacobs (Kevin) and Lea Hibbard (Joni) for your help.
1556 Daphne Street
Broomfield, CO

Wednesday - Meet Night
The girls need to be to the gym between 3:15-3:30 as we will clean up/set up the gym and bleachers. Here is the meet schedule.
4:15pm   Open Gym
4:40-5:40 Timed Warm Ups
5:50pm   March In
6:00pm    Competition Begins

Competition order: Vault-Bars-Beam-Floor

Thursday - Team Pictures 3:45pm at PDRC / No Practice
I hope to hand out picture packets prior to Thursday (assuming I receive them :)) Girls need to wear their competition leotard for pictures. We will be in the front of PDRC for pictures. Most girls choose to wear their hair down for pictures which is fine.

Saturday, September 3, 2016

Weekly Schedule 9/5/16

We survived our first (hot) meet of the fall. Did I mention that most gyms will be hot :).

Overall I think our performance was about what we expected, some nerves got the best of us but it showed us what we need to work on moving forward. I loved our energy and team spirit!

This week is a busy week with two weeknight meets so please be sure to read through all of the information below.

Schedule
Monday              9-11:15am
Tuesday             Meet at Rocky Mountain HS (Fort Collins)
                          ***Bus departs BHS at 3pm***
THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINAL SCHEDULE

BHS Students released from class at 2:45pm
                           All others released at 2:30pm

                     Sandwiches - Lea Hibbard
                     Snacks - Coaches
Drinks - Nicole (we did run out of water at the first meet :))

Wednesday        3:30-6:00pm   Varsity Only / JV Open Gym Optional
Because Friday's meet at the Loveland Invite is a varsity only competition and the
girls will be missing a lot of school through the week we don't want to take away
from study time if needed. Therefore we will notify to girls on Tuesday if they will
be required to be at practice Wednesday, for everyone else it will be an optional open
                          gym.

Thursday           No Practice
Friday                Loveland Invite
                          Bus departs BHS at 12:15pm
**DROP OFF ONLY - Girls need to arrange for carpool/rides home

                           BHS students released at 12:00pm
                           All others released at 11:30am

We will have a tentative line up for this meet on Tuesday when we announce those that should be at practice Wednesday. Those not competing are still encouraged and will be excused to attend the meet with us. That said, if your daughter feels that she simply can't miss that much school then we ask she find a ride up to the meet after school. We really like to encourage all of the girls to attend the big invites to support and experience the larger competitions. Please let me know ASAP if your daughter will not be attending and/or riding the bus.

Also, I'll be sending an email with a field trip permission slip  that needs to be signed and returned to me at practice prior to Friday's meet. This is a new form the school wants this year for the three meets (Loveland Invite, Mtn Range, Broomfield Invite) that we will not be providing buses for one or both ways.

                           Sandwiches - Jaylee
                           Snacks - Jenna
                           Drinks - Nicki

Let the fun begin....official start to season 2016

Here we go…our season officially starts tomorrow!! We had a great time at camp with all of the girls (and certainly missed the few that couldn’t attend) and can’t wait to begin our season. We like to have a theme/motto each season to help set the tone for the girls and remind us all what our goals are and this year we are so excited to D16 DEEP within ourselves to be the best we can be!

A few notes on our schedule and misc. info for the week to come….

Registration
You must be registered (athletic registration) before you will be allowed to practice. To complete this you must pay your $185 athletic registration fee to the school (online via RevTrak or in person to Mrs. Orvis) and then you must provide proof of payment and physical to Mrs. Orvis in the athletic office. She will then give you a white receipt which allows you to participate. If you do not have this receipt you MUST get it before coming to practice. Mrs. Orvis is in the office at BHS from 7:30am-3:30pm everyday.

Practice Schedule
I will hand out a season calendar at the mandatory parent’s meeting on Thursday but until then here is our schedule for this week.

Monday 8-10:15am
Tuesday/Wednesday 3:30-5:45pm
Thursday 3:30-5:30pm
Friday No Practice

Mandatory Parent’s Meeting
Broomfield athletics require all parents to attend the fall sports meeting on Thursday, August 18 at 6pm in the BHS auditorium. Our athletic director, Autumn Sereno, will discuss general athletic guidelines, academic eligibility, etc. We will then break out into individual sport meetings at which time I’ll discuss our team policies, expectations, schedule, etc. Please plan on your athlete and one parent attending the meeting.

Communication
Please be sure to follow either of the two sites to ensure you are up to date on my communication. I try to update both on Sunday’s for the upcoming week. Please have your athlete follow as well to stay current.

STATE....One Heart One Team!

Wow!!! I can't truly express how proud I am of this team. As you can imagine it was an emotional week for all of us and to be able to come back and focus on the meet and perform as well as we did was outstanding. And the beauty is we still have room for improvement! :)

This is our last official week of the season and it will be busy. Please, please, please make sure your daughter is getting rest and keeping their normal schedule.

We are going to have "spirit week" at school this week to help draw attention to the girls for the state meet so please note the clothing schedule as well (competitors and non-comptitors please dress up)

Gym Opens for Competitors   1:00pm
March In                                  2:55pm

Important Notes: Please know that non-competitors are invited and encouraged to spend the entire day with us on Friday but need to be excused from school by their parents. If girls can't afford to miss the entire day it's completely understandable and they can come to the meet as soon as school is over.

Competitors will be excused from school for the entire day.

The girls will get together before breakfast (I'll confirm location tomorrow) to do their hair before carpooling to breakfast. I'm looking for one additional volunteer to help carpool the girls to breakfast and you are welcome to join us at breakfast as well. Please email me directly if you're interested and can help.

BHS will pay for the competitors breakfast; non-competitors need to bring money for breakfast.
From breakfast we will carpool across the way to Thornton HS. We are given entrance passes from CHSAA and I don't know how many we will be given until I arrive there on Friday. Because we have a larger team there is a chance that I will be short passes and non-competitors may have to pay to get in (this hasn't happened in many years but I'm cautious and like to be prepared). Please bring $12 for an all session student pass just in case.

On Monday morning CHSAA will have the seeding meeting and send out our competition order; I'll let the girls and you know as soon as I do. The state meet format will be warm up 2 events, compete 2 events.

Adult ticket prices are $15 for both Friday (team competition) & Saturday (event finals)
Seniors/Students are $12 for both sessions

SATURDAY
Event Finals - if we have girls that finish in the top-15 on any event on Friday they will compete in event finals on Saturday. (These results, along with the team results, will be announced Friday night)

Open Warm Up       2:00pm
March In                 3:55pm
Competition            4:00pm
Awards (approx.)    6:30pm

STATE MEET FORMAT
Team and all around results are determined during Friday's competition. The top-15 finishers on each event on Friday then qualify for the event finals on Saturday afternoon. If we have qualifiers for Saturday we will be there as a team to support and cheer them on.

The gym on Friday will be FULL so please plan on arriving early.

Sarah -  Nutella
Heather - Veggie Dip
Kelsey - Crackers
Nicki - Small/Medium Cooler to store the food in
Peyton - Snack of choice
Heidi - Sliced Apples
Sam - Meat Tray
Madeline - Cheese slices (snack size)
Abby - Veggies
Abbi - Sliced Apples
Halle - Drinks

I know this was a LOT of information so please don't hesitate to write me with any additional questions.

This is a fun and exciting week and we alway appreciate your help and support. Please try and keep the girls rested, hydrated, well fed and as stress free as possible!

Weekly Schedule

Hi All,

WOW! What an exciting and awesome league meet!! Both teams are Front Range League Champions and we set a new season high (and our highest team score since 2013) with a 187.2!

It should be an exciting couple of weeks as we compete at Regionals and State.

Weekly Schedule

Monday
Practice   3:30-6:00pm
JV Open Gym 3:30-6:00pm

Tuesday
Practice 3:30-5:30pm

Wednesday
Practice  3:30-5:45pm
JV Open Gym (not mandatory)

Thursday
Practice  3:30-5:30pm

Saturday
Regionals at Mountain Range HS - We ended up being the #2 seed for regionals (this is based on the average of our top-3 team scores from the year) and will be at the Mountain Range HS regional against #5 Mountain Range, #8 Ponderosa, #11 Lakewood, #14 Bear Creek, #17 Chatfield and #20 Loveland. There will also be four 4A schools competing against each other in the 4A division.

In order to qualify for state one of two things must happen: #1 - we finished in the top-2 at our regional meet (our goal) and automatically qualify or #2- if we finish out of the top-2 than we must have one the next highest 6 teams scores from any region to qualify. As you can see, if we don’t do well at Regionals than we don’t qualify for State so it’s a very important meet for us.

8:00am Arrive at MRHS
8:15am Open Gym
8:55am Timed Warm Ups (2 events)
9:50am Opening Ceremonies
10:00am Competition Begins

Our event order - Vault, Beam, Bars, Floor
We will warm up two events, compete two events so there will be a 50 minute break mid-day for the second warm up session.

Sandwiches - I need a volunteer to help me coordinate sandwiches. The team will pay for them (no expense to you) but would like help placing an order for sandwich trays, picking them up and bringing to the meet. If you can assist me with this please email me!
Snacks - Peyton
Drinks - Abby Holbrook

Weekly Schedule

What a great TEAM win on Saturday at the Cherry Creek Invite. Every tenth counts and that was certainly the case as we squeaked it out by only a .5!! A fun and exciting week that will conclude at the Front Range League Championship meet on Wednesday and is sadly the last official week of the season for some of our teammates. I'll notify those that we would like to stay on for the Regional and League meet at the end of the week. Looking forward to another great week!

Thursday
NO PRACTICE! Enjoy the long weekend and rest!

Friday
The girls have asked that we attend a haunted house as a team (as we've done in year's past). This is by no means mandatory but a fun event that both Allie and I will be attending.

We will be going to Haunted Field of Screams in Thornton (104th & Riverdale) and will carpool together. Tickets are $24pp.

The plan will be to meet somewhere in Broomfield (possibly PDRC or a quick serve dinner restaurant) at 7pm and head down. Hopefully by going early we can avoid a really long line and be back to Broomfield at a decent time. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Off Season Practice
I know many are curious about off-season practices and while I don't have them confirmed it's looking like we will do a short session in December at PDRC on Monday and Wednesday's from 3:30-6:00pm. They will continue in January and depending on participation we may try and add an additional third practice. I'll keep everyone posted.

Secret Sister Week
It's been a long tradition (15+ years) that we have secret sister week. On Thursday the girls drew names and are to bring three gifts this week. We don't want this to pose a burden on anyone so we encourage girls to be creative and use their imagination. The guidelines are as follows:
Tuesday - small gift #1 ($5 or less)
Thursday - small gift #2 ($5 or less)
Saturday - big gift & reveal ($15 or less)

If you have any questions please let me know

It will be a BUSY week please help keep the girls healthy and rested.

Mountain Range is a big rival of ours so wear your blue and be loud!!

Meet Set Up
Saturday will be the 34th Annual Broomfield Invitational, one of the longest running high school meets in the state. Because this is our meet we are responsible for set up, running and clean up. We co-host with Mountain Range at their school because they have the equipment and space but we need all hands on deck to help. Set up is mandatory so please plan on attending. We usually get the gym set up fairly quickly and our goal is to have the girls out of there by 5pm.

3:30-5:00pm at Mountain Range HS - park/drop off at the back of the school near the tennis courts

Broomfield Invitational - at Mountain Range High School
Arrive by 7:45am (open gym is at 8:00am)
March In at 9:35am
Competition begins around 9:50am
Awards approximately 3:00pm

We will warm up two events then compete those two events. There will be an hour break around 12pm of the second warm up session and then the conclusion of the meet.

Our competition order is Vault-Beam-Bars-Floor

This will be gate admission charged $5 adults / $4 students & seniors

Sandwiches - Kelsey
Snacks - Heather
Drinks - Sarah

I know that Saturday is homecoming at a few schools, this happens most years and the following is our policy on attendance. All girls are required to be at the competition for the entire day but I usually release those going to the dance after the completion of our final event (floor). Please understand I can't simply dismiss the entire team as we need to be there to help clean up the gym and for awards. This year's meet is a few teams smaller than last year so there's a chance we might be completely done by 2:30-3:00pm but of course I can't guarantee a time. There is plenty of down time at an invite so most years girls bring their curling irons and start getting ready at the school. Please make plans accordingly and be realistic with your time (i.e. don't schedule group pictures for 3pm because in all likely hood you will still be at the gym).

Staying Healthy
