STATE 2013 ... Weekly Schedule

Broomfield Eagles headed to State!! Every year our goal is to still be competing on the last day of the season with a chance to win a state championship, and this year is no different. We didn’t have our best meet of the year at Regionals but it was still enough to pull out the victory and earn our automatic team berth. We are seeded third for state (based on regional qualifying scores) and will know Monday after the CHSAA seeding meeting what our event order will be. Regardless of order, we’ll be ready!

Here’s our schedule for the week including events for state.

In honor of Halloween we are having spirit week this week at practice J Also, the captains have declared it spirit week at school as well to draw attention to our team and state.

Monday
Practice      3:30-5:30pm
80’s/Neon Day

School-Want, Work, Win shirt

Tuesday
Practice       3:30-5:30pm
*Senior Choice (we’ll decide at practice Monday)

School- Heart of a Champion shirt

Wednesday
Practice         3:30-5:30pm
Ninja Day
JV Open Gym

School-Jacket with white tank

Thursday
Practice      3:30-5:15pm
HALLOWEEN-wear your costume

School-Dress up (nice clothes as opposed to costumes J)

Friday
STATE @ Thornton High School
Meet at Melanie Stelling’s                           9:00am
Breakfast at The Egg & I                            10:00am
(Thornton Pkwy & Washington)
Gym Opens for competitors                       1:00pm
March In                                                   2:55pm

Notes – The girls meet at Melanie’s house to do their hair and then can carpool to breakfast. We do ask for a couple of parents to help carpool and attend breakfast so no competitors are driving. Competitor’s breakfast is paid for by the school. Non-competitors are again welcome and encouraged to attend if missing an entire day of school is an option. Non-competitors are responsible for paying for their own breakfast.

Competitors are excused for the entire school day.

We will be given entrance passes for our team Friday when we arrive, I have no idea how many passes we’ll get and won’t know until we arrive. CHSAA is somewhat stingy with passes and there have been times when we only receive enough for the competitors. Please have non-compeitors bring $8 just in case we don’t have extra.

Adult ticket prices are $10 for both Friday & Saturday
Seniors/Students are $8 for both sessions
Adults are $6 for Friday only

Saturday
Event Finals – if we have girls that finish in the top-15 on any event Friday they will compete in event finals on Saturday.

Open Warm Up      2:00pm
March In                   3:55pm
Competition           4:00pm

Notes-FYI: The way the State meet runs is team and all around results are determined Friday during the team competition. The top-15 finishers on each of the four events then qualify for event finals on Saturday afternoon. We’ll know at the conclusion of the meet Friday who, if anyone, has qualified for Saturday.

The gym is full for the team competition so please plan on arriving early enough to watch your daughter and/or the team and wear your BHS gear…we’ll lay out the banners when we arrive but the stands fill up quickly once the doors open around 2:30pm.

Coaches will buy and provide snacks again for this meet but please be prepared to supplement a little extra for dinner depending on your daughters wants.

Snacks/Drinks - Regionals & State
In previous years we've assigned everyone additional snacks and drinks for the last two meets. This year we'd like to provide the snacks since we feel we have a good knowledge of what the girls like and how much to get so we're asking for the girls still on the competitor team to please bring $20 to practice on Monday. This will cover all snacks, food and drink for the remaining two meets. Both of the remaining meets are long days so the snacks are very much appreciated and consumed by the team. Thanks for your help.

End of Season Banquet
I know it's early but we're looking at two dates for the banquet and hope to finalize within the next week or so. Please mark Thursday, November 21 or Thursday, December 5 as tentative dates.

Weekly Update - 9/23/2013

What a great way to represent at our first Invitational of the season. Invites are always long, tiring days but the girls did great and posted our season high score in route to a second place team finish. After the odd week of practice and cancellation of two meets we (coaches) felt it was a great showing. Thank you to all of the food and drink hosts as there was plenty of snacks and drinks to keep the girls going all day long.

Secret Sister Week
Next week is secret sister week so start thinking ahead and keeping an eye out for fun little gifts for your sister. We'll draw names at the end of this week and each girl is asked to deliver (anonomously) three small ($5 or less) gifts to her sister throughout the week. Then at the Cherry Creek Invite we will reveal our secret sisters along with a large ($10 or less) gift. This is a long standing tradition with our team and is always lots of fun. Remember to be creative....the best gifts usually don't cost anything at all but instead are handmade! We'll explain more to the girls when we draw names.

Race For The Cure
Because the race is a week earlier this year (September 29) I've decided against walking in it as a team because of our long week and hosting our invite Saturday. I'm bummed to miss such a fun event this year but both personally and for the sake of the girls I'm afraid it might be a little too much. Thanks for your understanding and support.

As always please let me know if you have any questions!

Weekly Schedule - 9/16/2013

What a crazy few days of weather and events...we hope everyone stayed safe and dry! Assuming Boulder Valley returns to school on Wednesday here is our schedule for the week:

Wednesday
Practice           3:30-6:00pm

Thursday
Practice          3:30-5:30pm

Friday
Practice         3:30-5:00pm  Saturday competitors only
Pictures         TBD - I had tried to reschedule these because it was a conflict for a couple of people and am still waiting to hear confirmation from the photographer. I'll keep you posted and let you know as soon as I hear.

Saturday
Overland Invitational
Bus departs BHS at 7am (DROP OFF ONLY)
March In at 10am

Non-Competitors that would like to sleep in can arrange to carpool to Overland HS and must be there by 9:30am. Non-Competitors are required to attend meets unless previously excused. All athletes need to arrange for transportation home from the meet. We hope that parents of competitors that are there watching the meet can help with rides home. Please let me know by Thursday afternoon if your daughter will be riding the bus or coming late.

Sandwiches -         Brooke
Snacks-                 Sarah, Alison
Drinks-                  Sophie, Leah

Since our Meet at Green Mountain was cancelled I've added those snack hosts to Saturday's meet. It's a very LONG day so two people providing munchies and drinks will be beneficial.

Cancelled Meets
We are trying to reschedule our meet with Thompson Valley for later in the season but haven't been able to confirm a date that works for both schools and officials. Our meet with Green Mountain will not be rescheduled. Tomorrow's meet was scheduled as a tri meet so Green Mountain and the other team will still compete.

Next Week
Keep in mind that next week is a very BUSY week for us as we prepare to host our first home meet of the season as well as the 32nd Annual Broomfield Invitational.
Monday - Practice
Tuesday - Practice
Wednesday - Practice / Team Dinner
Thursday - Home Meet vs. Fort Morgan
Friday - Meet Set Up at Mountain Range HS (MANDATORY)
Saturday - Broomfield Invite

I'll send out exact times in next week's email.

Team Dinners
I need to know who is hosting next week's dinner from the Louisville families that volunteered. I'm also still looking for co-hosts for Tuesday, October 8. Please let me know ASAP.

Parent Volunteers
I'm in need of a couple of volunteers to help with the coaches/judges hospitality room at the Broomfield Invite next week. I need a couple of folks to help with a trip to Costco for drinks, snacks, breakfast items and deliver them along with coolers and ice on Saturday morning. We also will need your help ensuring the hospitality room is cleaned up after the meet. You will be reimbursed for all purchases. If you can help please contact me ASAP. I'd like to have 1-3 families helping so the burden is not on one person's shoulders

Weekly Schedule & Notes - September 1, 2013

What a great and exciting start to the season. A 179.9 is the our second highest opening night score in program history and we certainly have room for improvement.

Thank you the families that provided the food and drinks for Thursday, it was a busy night and I know a lot of the snacks went unused but that won't happen on any of the bus trips that we have coming up. This week's snacks hosts are Kenayde (main), Kirky (snacks), Bree (drinks). Please be sure to send the items with your daughter to the bus on Wednesday.

Team Dinners - I'm still looking for a couple of Broomfield families to co-host one of the team dinners before our home meet. I have a group of families from Louisville that have offered to host the other. Please let me know if you're interested.

Weekly Schedule
Monday                   9-11am            Practice

Weekly Update - August 24

Here's our schedule for the week and some other important notes...

Monday     3:30-6:00pm
Tuesday     3:30-5:30pm
Wed.         3:30-6:00pm
Thurs.       Meet at Mountain Range HS
Gymnasts arrive via carpool at 4:15pm (this is different from the 4pm time on our calendar)
                March In is at 6pm

**Drop girls off in the back of the school (East side) which is the athletic activities entrance. The meet will be in the small auxillary gym which is as far east as the hallway extends through a set of glass doors (this will make more sense once you arrive).

Routine Videos - If you didn't receive my email with the youtube link it's below. We try to tape routines at every meet and this year I will try to get them uploaded to youtube so girls can watch, review and learn from their performances.

Practice Meet Videos

Leos - The girls received two leos at practice on Saturday. The tank leo is the warm up leo that each girl keeps and is required to wear for warm ups at meets. Please wear a bra that CANNOT be seen under the tank leo. The girls are allowed to wear black shorts only at meets with the warm up leos.

The long sleeve competition leos are property of the school so girls must return at the end of the season in the garment bags they were distributed in. Please try on your undergarments PRIOR to the first meet to ensure nothing can be seen.

Spirit Packs-  We should be distributing spirit packs as early as Monday or Tuesday next week (which the girls are very excited about). In addition to all of the gear the girls are getting in their spirit packs they do need a pair of black capri leggings for march in. We choose not to provide these because we find the girls can find them for a lot less than we would get from our supplier. It doesn't matter what brand; some girls have Nike but most have $6 ones from Target. Just be sure to get black, capri length. These are worn for march in with our team jackets.

Pictures- The school is currently trying to schedule our pictures so be on the look for more information. I was told there is a good chance pictures might be on a Saturday this year. I'll let you know as soon as i do.

Practice Attendance-  I know with school starting everyone is still getting into the routine of getting to practice after the last bell but please do your best as parents to get your daughter to practice ON TIME. We have a lot of girls from five different schools but there's nothing more frustrating as coach then having girls come in late and leave early. Most of our team announcements are done at the beginning or end of practice so if your daughter isn't there they very well could be missing important information.

Practice Times- I try very hard to stay consistent in the practice days and times that I distribute at the beginning of season but some things are out of my control since we practice at a public facility. Please be aware that because of the class sizes of some of the fall classes at the Rec and the size of our team we will more than likely be having some varsity only practice on Tuesday's or Thursday's in the coming weeks; because the gym is so crowded on those days having all 24 girls practice would be very unproductive. We'll be making those decisions in the coming days and will let the girls know well ahead of time what their schedule will be. Thanks for your understanding.

I think that's all for now...looking forward to a great week and an awesome first meet!
