STATE 2014 .... BACK 4 MORE!

While I thought our Regional performance was lacking a little bit of energy we were still able to accomplish what we set out to do by winning the meet and earning one of the two automatic berths to state on Friday. Now the pressure of the season really is over and Friday is our opportunity to perform and compete in the best meet of the year.

I tell the girls every meet that we want to continue to improve but not "peak" and we are setting ourselves up perfectly to have an amazing day on Friday. Below is the weekly schedule along with information about the State competition so please read through everything closely and contact me with any questions.

We are going to have "spirit week" at school this week to help draw attention to the girls for state so please note the clothing schedule as well (All girls please dress up)

Practice Schedule
MONDAY
3:30-5:15pm

No spirit wear

TUESDAY
3:30-5:15pm
*Optional JV open gym (there are not classes this week so the gym should be pretty empty allowing anyone that wants to come in to work some skills the opportunity. Please know that coaches will be focused on varsity practice so may be limited)

Spirit Week - March-In Jacket

WEDNESDAY
3:30-5:15pm
*Optional JV open gym

Spirit Week - Blue Spirit Pack Shirt

THURSDAY
3:30-5:15pm

Spirit Week - Dress Up

FRIDAY
STATE @ Thornton High School
Meet at Sarah Holbrook's               9:00am
Breakfast at The Egg & I                10:00am
(Thornton Pkwy & Washington)
Gym Opens for Competitors           1:00pm
March In                                          2:55pm

Important Notes - Please know that non-competitors are invited and encouraged to spend the entire day with us on Friday but need to be excused from school by their parents. If girls can't afford to miss the entire day it's completely understandable and they can come to the meet as soon as school is over.

Competitors will be excused from school for the entire day.

The girls will get together at Sarah's house to do their hair before carpooling to breakfast. Claudia (Nicki's mom) and Denise (Sarah's mom) will then help carpool girls to breakfast as I prefer to not have competitors drive themselves. Non-competitors please help with carpooling the other girls.

BHS will pay for the competitors breakfast; non-competitors need to bring money for breakfast.
From breakfast we will carpool across the way to Thornton HS. We are given entrance passes from CHSAA and I don't know how many we will be given until I arrive there on Friday. Because we have a larger team there is a chance that I will be short passes and non-competitors may have to pay to get in (this hasn't happened in many years but I'm cautious and like to be prepared). Please bring $8 for an all session student pass just in case.

On Monday morning CHSAA will have the seeding meeting and send out our competition order; I'll let the girls and you know as soon as I do. The state meet format will be warm up 2 events, compete 2 events.

Adult ticket prices are $10 for both Friday (team competition) & Saturday (event finals)
Seniors/Students are $8 for both sessions

Adult single day ticket is $8
Seniors/Students single day ticket is $5

SATURDAY
Event Finals - if we have girls that finish in the top-15 on any event on Friday they will compete in event finals on Saturday. (These results, along with the team results, will be announced Friday night)

Open Warm Up       2:00pm
March In                 3:55pm
Competition            4:00pm
Awards (approx.)    6:30pm

STATE MEET FORMAT
Team and all around results are determined during Friday's competition. The top-15 finishers on each event on Friday then qualify for the event finals on Saturday afternoon. If we have qualifiers for Saturday we will be there as a team to support and cheer them on.

The gym on Friday will be FULL so please plan on arriving early. In years past we've had girls take the BHS banners in and lay the out to save seat for our parents section, we will do that again this year (assuming they allow us to) but it's always best if some parents can get there when the gym opens to spectators (usually around 1:30pm) to help save seats. Don't forget to wear your blue and sit together!

We (coaches) will provide snacks for all the girls in attendance Friday but please know that you may also want to plan on running out during the warm up break to get your daughter something more substantial for dinner. There will be a concession stand but generally pizza and nachos are what you'll find there. If there were any snacks leftover from Regionals that we can use Friday please let me know so I can take those into account before shopping this week.

I know this was a LOT of information so please don't hesitate to write me with any additional questions.

This is a fun and exciting week and we alway appreciate your help and support. Please try and keep the girls rested, hydrated, well fed and as stress free as possible!

Weekly Schedule - 10/21/14

What a GREAT victory Wednesday night at the league championships. I'm so proud of this group of girls, not for the victories, but the fact they continue to exemplify what a "TEAM" is. Each meet we see a different individual stepping up their leadership, performance and energy and it doesn't matter to the girls who scores what rather that they are all doing the absolute best they can.

We're into the final two weeks of the season so please help ensure you're staying on top of your studies as well as taking care of yourself (moms and dads, now's the time to start pumping the vitamin C to help keep the crud away!).

BHS Homecoming - I'm well aware that Saturday is also BHS' homecoming and our policy is that all girls going to the dance can leave at the conclusion of our last routine. That said, I really don't have a time but it probably won't be until around 4:30-5:00pm.

Parents Section
As we head into these last two meets of season please do your best to sit together at meets and create a true "parents section". I hope you've had the opportunity to get to know each other a little throughout the season but now's not the time to be shy. The girls thrive off of exciting and high energy atmosphere and we've been blessed with very loud and supportive parents/families in the past so please continue this awesome tradition. And of course, don't forget to wear blue!

Off Season Practice
I know some of the girls that have completed their season will be anxious to get back into the gym. I don't yet know what the off season practice schedule will look like so please be patient and we end the season and start looking towards the winter. As soon as I'm able to firm up days/times I'll pass along the information.

Weekly Schedule - 10/6/14

Sorry....I'm a little behind this week but it will be a busy week and there is a LOT of information below, so please read it all. Please make sure the girls are getting plenty of rest and eating/drinking well. This is usually the time of year we start getting the crud because girls are getting run down and not taking care of themselves.

Practice Schedule
*Please know that from this point forward all practices will be from 3:30-5:30 unless otherwise specified. That said, at this point in the season our practices are routine focused and often times the girls are finishing their assignment with time to spare so we may (as we did yesterday) dismiss them early if everyone is done. The rec is open and the weather nice enough that the girls have ample room/area to wait for rides if we do end early.

Tuesday
Practice        3:30-5:30pm

Wednesday
Meet at Niwot HS
Arrive             4:15pm
March In         6:00pm
*NO BUS - Girls need to arrive to Niwot HS by 4:15pm. If you cannot find a ride let me know and I can help carpool girls.

Sandwiches - Sonya
Snacks - Amanda
Drinks - Gabby

Thursday
Practice      3:30-5:30pm
Varsity Only

Friday
Meet set up at Mountain Range HS       3:30-5:30pm
MANDATORY
We can usually get the gym set up in 1.5 hours but we will stay until it's complete. The faster we get started the faster we will finish so please be on time. This is dusty and dirty so wear gym/comfy clothes.

Saturday
33rd Annual Broomfield Invite at Mountain Range HS
Arrive  7:45am
Open Gym 8:00am
March In 9:30am

We will warm up two events then compete those two events. There will be an hour break around 12pm for the second warm up session and then the conclusion of competition.

Our competition order is Vault, Beam, Bars, Floor

Sandwiches - Madeline
Snacks - Peyton
Drinks - Sarah

This will be gate admission charged - $5/adults,  $4/students & seniors

Looking Ahead ....
Secret Sister Week
We will draw secret sisters later this week and give presents next week. The girls are asked to get 2 small ($5 and under) and 1 large ($15 and under) gift. We exchange gifts secretly at practice/meet Monday-Wednesday and then will exchange our large gift at practice on Thursday. We will talk about gift ideas and specifics this week. This is a fun tradition our team has been doing for over 15 years!

Front Range League Meet
Next Wednesday, October 15 is our league meet. We WILL be competing both a Varsity and JV team. Warm ups begin at 2pm so we will probably excuse the girls from school around lunch time and meet for lunch first before heading to the meet. I'll send out specifics later this week.

After Leagues
The Thursday after the league meet (10/16) will be the last practice for our JV team. Beyond that the girls are welcomed and encouraged to attend all other team activities and meets (Regionals and State).

Our Regional meet (location TBD upon CHSAA seeding on October 11) will be on Saturday, October 25. I know this is BHS' homecoming and I will allow non-competitors to leave early and competitors to leave as soon as our team is done competing (as opposed to the conclusion of the meet). I don't know what time that will be as this is the first year we are on a new time schedule. Competition starts at 12pm so I'm hoping we will be done between 4-5pm.
