STATE 2014 .... BACK 4 MORE!

While I thought our Regional performance was lacking a little bit of energy we were still able to accomplish what we set out to do by winning the meet and earning one of the two automatic berths to state on Friday. Now the pressure of the season really is over and Friday is our opportunity to perform and compete in the best meet of the year.

I tell the girls every meet that we want to continue to improve but not "peak" and we are setting ourselves up perfectly to have an amazing day on Friday. Below is the weekly schedule along with information about the State competition so please read through everything closely and contact me with any questions.

We are going to have "spirit week" at school this week to help draw attention to the girls for state so please note the clothing schedule as well (All girls please dress up)

FRIDAY
STATE @ Thornton High School
Meet at Sarah Holbrook's               9:00am
Breakfast at The Egg & I                10:00am
(Thornton Pkwy & Washington)
Gym Opens for Competitors           1:00pm
March In                                          2:55pm

Important Notes - Please know that non-competitors are invited and encouraged to spend the entire day with us on Friday but need to be excused from school by their parents. If girls can't afford to miss the entire day it's completely understandable and they can come to the meet as soon as school is over.

Competitors will be excused from school for the entire day.

The girls will get together at Sarah's house to do their hair before carpooling to breakfast. Claudia (Nicki's mom) and Denise (Sarah's mom) will then help carpool girls to breakfast as I prefer to not have competitors drive themselves. Non-competitors please help with carpooling the other girls.

BHS will pay for the competitors breakfast; non-competitors need to bring money for breakfast.
From breakfast we will carpool across the way to Thornton HS. We are given entrance passes from CHSAA and I don't know how many we will be given until I arrive there on Friday. Because we have a larger team there is a chance that I will be short passes and non-competitors may have to pay to get in (this hasn't happened in many years but I'm cautious and like to be prepared). Please bring $8 for an all session student pass just in case.

On Monday morning CHSAA will have the seeding meeting and send out our competition order; I'll let the girls and you know as soon as I do. The state meet format will be warm up 2 events, compete 2 events.

Adult ticket prices are $10 for both Friday (team competition) & Saturday (event finals)
Seniors/Students are $8 for both sessions

Adult single day ticket is $8
Seniors/Students single day ticket is $5

SATURDAY
Event Finals - if we have girls that finish in the top-15 on any event on Friday they will compete in event finals on Saturday. (These results, along with the team results, will be announced Friday night)

Open Warm Up       2:00pm
March In                 3:55pm
Competition            4:00pm
Awards (approx.)    6:30pm

STATE MEET FORMAT
Team and all around results are determined during Friday's competition. The top-15 finishers on each event on Friday then qualify for the event finals on Saturday afternoon. If we have qualifiers for Saturday we will be there as a team to support and cheer them on.

The gym on Friday will be FULL so please plan on arriving early. In years past we've had girls take the BHS banners in and lay the out to save seat for our parents section, we will do that again this year (assuming they allow us to) but it's always best if some parents can get there when the gym opens to spectators (usually around 1:30pm) to help save seats. Don't forget to wear your blue and sit together!

We (coaches) will provide snacks for all the girls in attendance Friday but please know that you may also want to plan on running out during the warm up break to get your daughter something more substantial for dinner. There will be a concession stand but generally pizza and nachos are what you'll find there. If there were any snacks leftover from Regionals that we can use Friday please let me know so I can take those into account before shopping this week.

I know this was a LOT of information so please don't hesitate to write me with any additional questions.

This is a fun and exciting week and we alway appreciate your help and support. Please try and keep the girls rested, hydrated, well fed and as stress free as possible!
