Weekly Schedule-10/7/12

I can't believe our last regular season meet is on Wednesday! Every year the season seems to go faster and faster and this year is no exception. It has been a fantastic year and I've enjoyed coaching every single athlete on this year's team...I can only hope they've enjoyed it as much as Bob, Whitney and I have.

As we conclude our regular season please keep in mind that the non-competitors are welcome and encouraged at every remaining meet (Leagues, Regionals, State) and all team activities.

Monday
Practice                              3:30-6pm

Tuesday
Practice                              6:30-8:30pm

Wednesday
at Niwot
Bus leaves at 3:15pm
Early Release at 2:45pm (outlying schools schools)
   Sandwiches - Melanie Stelling
   Snacks - Jessie Jackman
   Drinks - Alana Hill

*We have decided because of how many girls live outside of Broomfield to have a drop off only bus at the Niwot meet. Please make arrangements on your own to have your daughter transported home from the meet. Overall this should make the evening a lot shorter and more convenient for those that live in Louisville, Lafayette and Boulder*

Thursday
Practice                           4-6pm
Varsity will practice
JV will come and turn in their competition leos and have open gym

*Reminder: Your competition leos must be returned on a hanger and in their original garment bag!!*

Upcoming Events in the remaining weeks...more detail to follow

Parent Cheering Section
The girls (and coaches :) are asking for all of our parents in attendance at the remaining meets to be loud & proud Eagle supporters! Wear your BHS shirts, sit together (get to know each other) and cheer loudly. The girls really do feed off of your support, especially at Regionals & State. As I'm sure you're aware, this is turning out to be a special year and the support from our fans is exciting and important.

Haunted House
It's become somewhat of a tradition that we attend a haunted house together as team and the girls have already been asking about it...as of now we are tossing around Friday, October 19 (early), Friday, October 26 or Saturday, October 27. Just be aware and I'll talk with the girls in more detail.

Tuesday Practices
Despite the calendar we will continue to hold Tuesday practices in the evening for the remainder of the season (Varsity Only)

Norther League Championships at Fort Morgan HS
This year's league meet will be at Fort Morgan (don't worry there will be state quality judges this time). Below is the schedule of events so that you can start planning for the day. Depending upon parent attendance we will decide on carpooling vs. school bus; please let me know if you have an opinion/preference.
Meet Schedule:
                   Open Gym                       12:45PM-1:30PM
                   Coaches Meeting             1:00PM

                   Judges Meeting               1:45PM

Regionals
We will not know which Regional Meet we are in until the official seeding by CHSAA on Monday, October 22 but by all indications we will be the #1 seed (average of our top-3 season team scores) and therefore be at Mountain Range HS on Wednesday, October 24.

Typically in years past we have had lunch together as a team and then gone to the meet. Below is the schedule for the Regional Meet.
Meet Schedule:
                      3:15 P.M. Registration (check-in)
                      3:30-4:30 p.m. Open Gym

                      6:00 p.m. Competition Begins

State
The team competition of the State Meet is on Friday, November 2 at Thornton HS. Typically competitors our excused for the entire day and non-competitors decided if they can afford to miss the entire school day. Non-competitors need to be excused by their parents. We will have a team breakfast prior to the meet which is why the girls are excused the entire day.
Meet Schedule:
                       12:00 p.m. Gym Opens
                       1:08 p.m. Begin warm-up (rotation I & II)

                       9:00pm   Approximate Conclusion

Event Finals - the top-15 girls on each event qualify for event finals which are on Saturday. There has been a change to the schedule from previous years so please note the following:
                      12:00 p.m.  Open Warm Up
                      1:55 p.m.    March In
                      2:00 p.m.   Competition Begins
                                       Awards at conclusion of competition

Off Season Practice
Off season practice will begin in the middle of November at Paul Derda. This practice is not mandatory but encouraged if your daughter is not practicing at another gym. Unfortunatley we can't begin this practice any sooner because there is not gym time or coaches available because of other classes and the remaining HS season. If your daughter is interested in getting in the gym sooner I know there is a Thursday night HS practice at GU being offered.

Post Season Banquet
In the next couple of weeks I'll be looking for feedback and possible venue ideas for our post season banquet. Please let me know ASAP if you have a vacation planned or major conflict in mid-November.

BHS Sports Gala & Booster Rep
We are looking for ideas and resources for the silent auction gift basket that we are required to provide for the Booster Club's Sports Gala in March. If you have any ideas, or better yet, connections to cool items/places/events please let me know. Because of this event our team is usually awarded upwards of $2500-3000 for leotards, spirit packs, equipment, etc. We are also in need of a new parent representative for next year as Ken Claussen has been so gracious and generous to have been our sponsor the past three years. If we don't have a sponsor I get in trouble :) so please let me know if you're available to help.
